Subd. 6. Definitions <br /> <br />bo <br /> <br />dm <br /> <br />ee <br /> <br />f. <br /> <br />Introductory Sentence <br /> <br />As used within this ordinance, the following terms shall have the meanings <br />set forth in this section: <br /> <br />2. The word "shall" is mandatory and not merely directory. <br /> <br />Alter <br /> <br />q. To change the appearance or function of a tree. <br /> <br />Landmark Tree(s) <br /> <br />Any tree which is determined by the City Council to be of unique and <br />intrinsic value to the general public because of its size, age, historic <br />association or ecological value or any tree designated a Minnesota State <br />Champion, United States Champion or World Champion by the American <br />Forestry Association. The Environmental Specialist shall keep a record of all <br />specimen trees so designated and their location. <br /> <br />Approval <br /> <br />Approval means written approval pursuant to a duly executed application for <br />approval made on a form promulgated by the Community Development. <br /> <br />City Tree Policy <br /> <br /> A manual, developed and maintained by the Environmental Specialist <br /> and the City of Ramsey Environmental Policy Task Force, which contains <br /> the standards and specifications for sound arboricultural practices, <br /> techniques and procedures which shall be applicable to all public trees in <br /> Ramsey, including but not limited to tree selection, planting, pruning, <br /> alteration, treatment, protection, and removal. <br /> <br />Berm <br /> <br />An earthen mound designed to provide visual interest, screen undesirable <br />views, and/or decrease noise. <br /> <br />Boulevard <br /> <br />That part of the property not covered by sidewalk or other paving, lying <br />between the property line and the curb line of any street. In the absence of a <br />curb, the curb line of a street shall be deemed to be the edge of that portion <br />of the public right of way maintained and open to the use of the public for <br />purposes of public travel. <br /> <br />Page 17 of 24 <br /> <br /> <br />
