Councilmember DeLuca introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #89-11-309 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION REQUESTING MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO <br />RELAX WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS ON THE FERRY STREET/MISSISSIPPI RIVER <br />BRIDGE <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Economic Development Commission of the City of Ramsey has <br />recently completed the 1989 Business Retention and Expansion Survey; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Business Retention and Expansion Survey showed an adverse <br />economic impact on the City's businesses by the weight restrictions on the Ferry <br />Street/Mississippi River Bridge; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Economic Development 'Commission of the City of Ramsey <br />requested Council action to request that the Minnesota Department of Transportation relax the <br />weight restrictions; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the proposed temporary bridge has been given priority <br />construction status and completion is expected in 1991. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br /> 1 ) That the Minnesota Department of Transportation study the new bridge <br />replacement schedule and the safety requirements to determine if the current weight <br />restrictions on the Ferry Street/Mississippi River Bridge could be relaxed. <br /> <br /> 2 ) That the Ramsey City Council continue its support for the timely <br />completion of the Ferry Street/Mississippi Bridge Replacement Project. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Cich and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />Mayor Reimann <br />Councilmember DeLuca <br />Councilmember Cich <br />Councilmember Pearson <br />Councilmember Peterson <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />and the following abstained: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />and the following were absent: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br /> <br />
