-" ,, Councilmember DeLuca introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #89-06-128 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION DECLARING CITY'S INTENT TO CHANGE METROPOLITAN <br />COUNCIL POLICY IMPLEMENTING ONE IN TEN ZONING CALCULATED ON <br />THE BASIS OF FOUR UNITS IN FORTY ACRES WITHIN THE CITY'S <br />NON-SEWERED AREA <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a portion of the City of Ramsey is currently within the 1990 Metropolitan <br />Urban Service Area and is partially served by sanitaD, sewer, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City is experiencing significant growth within the urban and rum! areas <br />of the CID,; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City desires to encourage development within the Urban Service Area <br />of the CiD, in order to protect the health, safer),, and welfare of its citizens and to protect the natural <br />resources of the City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City needs to accommodate such development by expanding the <br />Metropolitan Urban Serx4ce Area; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City also desires to provide a diverse range of housing opportunities <br />within the City and at the same time protect the environment; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City disa~ees with Metropolitan Council's current inflexible rural <br />residential pohcy of "4 in 40" acres. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />That the City intends to work with other communities to effect a change in Metropol/tan <br />Council policy relating to "4 in 40" acre zoning. <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />That staff is directed to work with landowners, other communities, Metropolitan Council, <br />and others as appropriate to effect a change in the Metropolitan Council's rural residential <br />policy. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Cich and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />Mayor Reimann <br />Councilmember DeLuea <br />Councilmember Cich <br />Councilmember Pearson <br />Councitmember Peterson <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />and the following abstained: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br /> <br />
