I II III II II I <br />Illllllllll <br />Mississippi River Corridor Critical Area Rulemaking: <br />Bluffs and Very Steep Slopes <br />Dayton - Ramsey <br />This map is not part of or included in the proposed rules: <br />Map Purpose <br />This map shows the location of bluffs and very steep slopes to show <br />the potential reach and impact of the proposed bluff and very steep <br />slope rules. This map does not distinguish between natural and man -made <br />features, such as road embankments. The rules do not apply to man -made <br />features. Before this map could be used by local governments to administer <br />bluff and very steep slope rules, the man -made features would need to be <br />removed from the map. <br />Proposed Bluff & Very Steep Slope Rules <br />No structures, impervious surface, land alteration, inte n slue vegetation <br />removal, or construction activities are allowed on or within 20 feet <br />of bluffs and very steep slopes. <br />All structures and impervious surfaces must be setback from bluffs based on <br />the district: CA -1: 100 feet <br />CA -2: 100 feet <br />CA -3: 40 feet <br />CA -4: 40 feet <br />CA -5: 40 feet <br />CA -6: 40 feet <br />CA -7: 40 feet <br />Bluffs are defined as natural topographic features that <br />• Rise at least 25 feet above the OHWL or toe of the bluff; and <br />• Have an average slope of at least 30% between the 0 HWL or toe of the bluff <br />to the top of the bluff <br />Very Steep Slopes are defined as natural topographic features that <br />• Rise at least 10 feet above the OHWL or toe of the slope; and <br />• Have an average slope of at least 18% between the 0 HWL or toe of the slope <br />to the top of the slope <br />Note: OHWL means Ordinary High Water Level and is the statutory boundary <br />for water bodies in Minnesota. For rivers, the OWHL is the elevation of the top <br />of the bank or channel.
