He
asked how the Council can learn what type of prosecutors are within the proposed firms.
Police Chief Way stated he knows Anoka County judges personally and they can be asked about
that information.
Prior to each interview, Mayor Strommen welcomed the attorneys and Council and staff
introduced themselves.
Councilmember Tossey arrived at 6:06 p.m.
RANDALL, GOODRICH & HAAG (Civil and Criminal)
Describe the backgrounds of the civil and p rosecuting attorneys who will be assi ng ed to
Ramsey.
Bill Goodrich introduced himself, Joe VanThomme, and Mike Haag.
Mr. VanThomme described his work as a prosecuting attorney and involvement with juvenile
protection. He stated he is the Vice Chair of the Minnesota Bar Association and in September
will serve as Chair to that elected position. Mr. VanThomme distributed information relating to
his prosecutions.
Mike Haag stated he is a partner in Randall, Goodrich & Haag, has a past life in law
enforcement, is involved with corporate and tax law, and has also done municipal prosecution
work. He is currently the Linwood Township attorney and teaches law enforcement at several
technical colleges.
Mr. Goodrich stated if selected, he would be the primary civil attorney, Mr. Haag would be the
back up, and Mr. VanThomme will assist as necessary.
How will your firm make Ramsey a priority and meet the terms outlined in the RFP for meeting
attendance, response time for Council staff inquiries, document review turn - around, and once
hours?
City Council Work Session / May 7, 2013
