RESOLUTION 08-133-2013 <br />RESOLUTION TO CONTINUE EFFORTS TOWARDS A SHARED FIRE SERVICE <br />WHEREAS, the Shared Fire Service Study Group, known as the Rum River Regional Fire Study Group includes the cities of <br />Bethel, Nowthen, Oak Grove, Ramsey and St Francis has held scheduled meetings on a regular basis since October of 2011; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey had the following members participate in the Shared Fire Service Study Group; Mayor <br />Strommen, Fire Chief Dean Kapler, City Administrator Kurt Ulrich and Firefighter Shane Swedeen and <br />WHEREAS, the Shared Fire Service Study Group presented a committee report to all communities involved on April 12, 2012 in <br />Ramsey MN; and <br />WHEREAS, aII cities mutually adopted a resolution to continue efforts towards a shared fire service and <br />WHEREAS, the "Rum River Regional Fire" Study group applied for and received a grant for a feasibility study for shared or <br />cooperative fire and emergency services; and <br />WHEREAS, the feasibility study was completed and the results were presented to a meeting of the five city councils on June <br />26`1' 2013, and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey has reviewed the opportunities and issues identified in the feasibility study, and conclude that <br />there appears to be opportunity to provide the same or better fire related services at a good value to all tax payers involved; <br />and <br />NOW THEREFOR, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA; <br />as follows: <br />The City of Ramsey hereby supports the continued effort of looking towards a Shared Fire Service with the other interested <br />communities. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was made by Councilmember XXXX, and was duly seconded by <br />Councilmember XXXX and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor: <br />and the following voted against the same: <br />and the following abstained: <br />and the following were absent: <br />Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council this 13 day of August, <br />2013. <br />Sarah Strommen, Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />
