CC Regular Session <br />Meeting Date: 08/ 13/2013 <br />By: Diana Lund, Finance <br />Information <br />4. 7. <br />Title: <br />Approve an Exemption For a Gambling License for Wounded Warriors Guide Service <br />Background: <br />The attached application is from the Wounded Warriors Guide Service for exemption from a lawful gambling <br />license to hold a fund-raising raffle at Game Fair on August 18, 2013. <br />Wounded Warriors Guide Service is a cost free guide service founded by veterans for veterans. The Wounded <br />Warriors Guide Service provides waterfowl hunting opportunities for vets that have been wounded serving our <br />nation. <br />Wounded Warriors Guide Service meets all of the requirements which allow thane to remain exempt from licensing, <br />primarily from the standpoint that commodities to be raffled arc greater than $1,500 but less than $50,000 for the <br />calendar year. <br />Approval requires nothing more than a motion followed by a letter to the Gambling Control Board, while if the <br />request is denied, a formal resolution for denial would need to be prepared and submitted to the Gambling Control <br />Board. <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends that the City Council approve the exemption from a lawful gambling license for the Wounded <br />Warriors Guide Service to hold a raffle at Game Fair on August 18, 2013. <br />Council Action: <br />Motion to recommend City Council approve the exemption from a lawful gambling license for the Wounded <br />Warriors Guide Service to hold a raffle at Game Fair on August 18, 2013 and authorize staff to submit a letter to <br />the Gambling Control Board stating approval. <br />Exemption Permit - Wounded Warriors <br />Attachments <br />Form Review <br />Inbox Reviewed By Date <br />Kurt Ulrich Kurt Ulrich 08/03/2013 12:02 PM <br />Fonn Started By: Diana Lund Started On: 07/30/2013 09:21 AM <br />Final Approval Date: 08/03/2013 <br />
