On September 24 2013 Council authorized Staff to obtain Bids for
the 1.2 mile trail from Alpine Drive along the west side of Armstrong Boulevard to Central Park.
Staff had estimated this project cost at $279,000 (not including administration and engineering).
Nine bids were received ranging from $284,000 to a low bid of $186,141. This is a `happy'
circumstance as not only is less money needed from the Park Trust Fund to build this important
connection to the trail system, the unexpected `savings' should allow Ramsey to receive
reimbursement for much of our documented administration and engineering costs (up to $100,000
in total reimbursement from the DNR), as part of the 50% matching program. Attached to the
Weekly Update is an Exhibit (from the grant application) that shows the new trail to be
constructed in red. Bid award is anticipated to be before City Council on November 12 2013
— and construction must be completed by early June 2014.
