e) In areas where there are <br />karst features, such as sinkholes, <br />solution channels, disappearing streams, <br />and caves, which may cause failures of <br />the leachate management system or prevent <br />effective monitoring or containment of a <br />release of leachate; <br /> <br /> f) In areas where there are <br />other unstable soil or bedrock conditions <br />that may cause failures of the leachate <br />management system; or <br /> <br /> g) Where an airport runway <br />used or scheduled for use by turbojet <br />aircraft is located within 10,000 feet of <br />the waste boundary, or an airport runway <br />used or scheduled for use by piston type <br />aircraft only is located within 5,000 <br />feet of the waste boundary, unless <br />approval is obtained from the Federal <br />Aviation Administration. <br /> <br /> h) Within 1,000 feet of the <br />nearest edge of the right-of-way of any <br />state, federal or interstate highway or <br />of the boundary of a public park or of an <br />occupied dwelling. <br /> <br /> i) Within 500 feet of any <br />known source of groundwater contamination <br />or any other known source of pollution. <br /> <br /> j) An area where groundwater <br />is contaminated or lies within the path <br />of the migration of contaminated <br />groundwater. <br /> <br />(7) REQUIRED BUFFER AREAS AND SCREENING <br /> <br />FOR LANDFILL SITES <br /> <br /> The distance between an operational <br />landfill and other land uses is critical <br />in avoiding scenic blight, land use <br />compatibility, reduction of land values <br />and nuisances from odor, dust, noise, <br />vibration, etc. Therefore, the following <br />standards shall guide the review and <br />issuance of conditional use permits. <br /> <br />18 <br /> <br /> <br />
