MEMORANDUM

TO:

FROM:

DATE:

SUBJECT:

City Council
Planning and Zoning Commission

Mark S. Banw~m, Community Development Director
February 1, 1990

No Parking Signs on Highway #10 N.W.

As you may recall, on August 22, 1989, the Ramsey City Council adopted Resolution #89-08-210
requesting the Minnesota Department of Transportation to erect "No Parking" signs on Highway
#10 within the Git3, of Ramsey. Since that time, City Staff has been following through with tiffs
request.

Although tile Resolution and intent of "No Parking" signs was for elimination of parking on
Highway #10 in it's entirety through the City of Ramsey; the original intent of the request was to
focus in on specific areas of Highway #10 where from time to time individuals would park their
car on the shoulder of Highway #10 while they were perusing used car lots and other businesses.

On February 1, 1990, the City received a copy of a District Traffic Work Order, directing that "No
Parking" signs will be installed on the entirety of Highway #10 N.W. itl tile City of Ramsey. It is
apparent that Minnesota DOT concurred with the City of Ramsey's concerns for public safety by
directing the erection of the "No Parking" signs.

It would be an appropriate act of the City to thank the Minnesota Department of Transportation for
their thoughtfulness and follow through on this most important issue (once the traffic signs }lave
been installed).

MSB:ccr
