Social Impacts of Relocation of County Road 116 <br /> <br />A segment of county state aid highway 116 would need to be <br />relocated to the north of its existing alignment in order to <br />provide sufficient approach clearance. The Master Plan <br />recommends that the road be realigned approximately one quarter <br />mile north where it originally was planned to be located. <br /> <br />No disruption of current traffic flows or increase in t!ne for <br />emergency response vehicles would be incurred by this relocation. <br />The realignment, however, may bound a residential parcel such that <br />three sides of the parcel would front on a street or roadway. <br />This may necessitate the acquisition of an additional parcel. <br /> <br />2.10 INDUCED (SECONDARY) SOCIO-ECONO~IC IMPACTS <br /> <br />Positive Impacts <br /> <br />Surveys of area businesses, based aircraft owners, and pilots <br />which were conducted for the Master Plan Study characterized <br />aviation activity, future needs perceived by the airport users, <br />and the socio-economic contributions to the airport and the <br />community. A number of items were brought to light. Among these <br />are: <br /> <br />· Aviation is a well established and viable business in its <br /> own right within the co~unity. <br /> <br />The high level of training activity indicates that there <br />is a significant interest in aviation and continued <br />growth can be expected if the facility is improved. <br /> <br />Area businesses depend on aviation as a significant part <br />of their transportation needs and they anticipate <br />increased use in the future. <br /> <br />Area businesses foresee a need for facility improvements <br />to meet their needs, and a number are anticipating <br />acquisition of aircraft or relocation of their aircraft <br />which would better serve them if the facilities are <br />improved. <br /> <br />The community benefits both directly and indirectly by <br />the existence of the Airport from an economic as well as <br />a social perspective. <br /> <br />The social and economic significance of a general aviation <br />airport to a community is perhaps one of the most understated <br />and misunderstood concepts to the general public.
