CASE <br /> <br />PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT STAFFING <br />BY: Merle Mevissen, Public Works Supervisor <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />In the discussions for the 1990 budget, two people were budgeted for in the Public Works <br />Department. One person was designated for Parks and the other for Streets. Somewhere in the <br />process, the person designated for Streets was eliminated. The need for this position to be filled is <br />extremely important due to the work that has been "held off" over the years, as well as for the new <br />development taking place in Ramsey at the present time. <br /> <br />Funds are available for the two positions, as one position was budgeted for for the full ye,'~r, bt~t <br />both positions won't be starting until mid-year. <br /> <br />Enclosed is the draft job listing and advertisement for your review. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />The Personnel Committee and staff recommend the hiring of two full-time Public Works <br />Maintenance Worker positions in salary grade 2. One would be designated for Parks and the other <br />for Streets. Staff also requests authorization to advertise for these two positions. Staff <br />recommends the person in Parks begin work approximately May 1, 1990 and the person in Streets <br />begin work approximately July 1, 1990.
