CASE CITY HALL PARKING LOT IMPROVEMENTS By: Pete Raatikka, City Engineer Background: As discussed at the March 27, 1990 City Council meeting, the Fire Department will be taking over the garage space at City Hall this summer. Therefore, City vehicles will have to be stored outside. To facilitate vehicle storage outside, it is proposed to construct a paved parking lot enclosed with a six foot high chain link fence. It is also proposed to construct an access road to 153rd Avenue N.W. from the fire barn and also provide additional parking areas for the volunteer firemen. As requested, we have estimated the construction cost of the improvements as follows: A. Parking Area Bituminous surfacing Gravel base Concrete curb stops (next to fire barn) Fencing Electrical plug-ins $ 3,200.00 $ 1,600.00 $ 500.00 $ 4,000.00 $ 1,S00.00 Total Estimated Cost Parking Area: $11,100.00 A~¢0~ Road to 153rd Avenue N.W, 1. 24 FOOt Wide Rural Section Bituminous Gravel base Total Est. Cost of Rural Section: 2. 32 Foot Wide Urban Section Bituminous Gravel base Curb and gutter Total Est. Cost of Urban Section: $ 6,500.00 $ 3,70O.00 $10,200.00 $ 7,500.00 $ 4,100.00 $ 6,500.00 $18,100.00 In addition to the above, the City may wish to consider overlaying the existing driveway and parking areas at City Hall. The estimated cost of a 1-1/2 inch bituminous overlay is $13,200.00. Should the City elect to proceed with part or all of the proposed improvements, a grading and drainage plan of the improvement area should be completed. I have estimated the cost of a grading and drainage plan which would include a topographic survey of the entire City Hall property be $3,800.00 It is proposed that the Public Works Department will do all the grading for the proposed improvements.
