MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />David Hartley, City Administrator <br /> <br />Merle Mevissen, Public Works Supervisor <br /> <br />April 4, 1990 <br /> <br />Request to Purchase Mower for Park Department <br /> <br />Last year, City Council decided to try contracting out part of the park maintenance work to <br />determine if it was more efficient to contract it out or perform it in-house. After analyzing costs <br />and work accomplished, it was determined that Ramsey could do the work more efficiently than a <br />contractor could. The Budget Committee recommended purchasing an additional mower and <br />hiring one full-time person to do the work in-house. <br /> <br />Price quotes were solicited from several companies and the following quotes were received: <br /> <br />MacQueen Equipment, Inc. <br />Howard Price - Model 530 - Diesel <br /> <br />$ 8,799.00 <br /> <br />Scharber & Sons <br />John Deere - Model 935 - Diesel <br /> <br />$ 9,295.00 <br /> <br />Kromer Co. <br />Yazoo - Model Eagle V - Diesel <br /> <br />$10,200.00 <br /> <br />MTI Distributing Co. <br />Toro Groundsmaster - Model 322 - Diesel <br /> <br />$10,383.00 <br /> <br />Due to the fact that there is not a Howard Price mower at the dealership to look at or demonstrate, <br />nor does any exist in this area, I am recommending the quote from Scharber & Sons for the John <br />Deere - Model 935 - Diesel at $9,295.00. The mower we currently have is a John Deere - Model <br />935 - Diesel and we are very satisfied with its performance and reliability.
