CC Regular Session <br />Meeting Date: 11/12/2013 <br />By: Jim Way, Police <br />7. 2. <br />Information <br />Title <br />Adopt Ordinance #13-24 to Amend City Code relating to the Business Registration Certificate <br />Purpose/Background: <br />The purpose of this case is to amend the City's Code to reflect the current process for Business Registration <br />Certificate submittal. <br />Staff is proposing some minor changes to the Business Registration Certificate Ordnance (BRC). Items in the <br />existing ordinance that are no longer current as to how the City operates are as follows: The BRC is not submitted <br />to the "zoning administrator" as the ordinance states - the Police Department currently administers the BRC <br />program. The definitions are previously stated at the beginning of section. The suggested amendments are basically <br />housekeeping items; however,it requires ordinance introduction and adoption as that is the process for amending <br />City Code. <br />Requested changes are attached to this case with a strike through of deleted items and additions in red type. <br />The ordinance was introduced by Council at the regular meeting of October 22, 2013. Ordinance #13-24 is now <br />being presented for formal adoption. <br />Funding Source: <br />None required <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends making the minor changes to the existing City Code that covers the Business Registration <br />Certificate. Staff recommends not listing who the administrator of the program is so that if it changes, the <br />ordinance/code does not have to be changed again. Staff recommends adoption of Ordinance # 13-24 relating to the <br />process for the Business Registration Certificate. <br />Action: <br />Motion to waive the Charter requirement to read the ordinance aloud - AND - adopt Ordinance # 13-24 amending <br />Chapter 26 of the City's Code known as the Licensing Chapter as it relates to Business Registration Certificates. <br />Roll Call Vote: <br />Councilmember Riley <br />Councilmember Backous <br />Councilmember Tossey <br />Councilmember Johns <br />Councilmember LeTourneau <br />Councilmember Kuzma <br />Mayor Strommen <br />Attachments <br />BRC Revisions <br />
