Animal examinations and veterinary care as required whenever staff is available. Boarding up to five days. Euthanasia and disposal if required. Collect license fees from owners who retrieve animals not previously licensed. Pick-ups of captive animals during normal business hours. The term of the current contract is May 1, 1989 through May 1, 1990 at a monthly cost of $456.78. The cost on an annual basis is $5,481.45. For information purposes, this cost is an increase over the prior year (May 1, 1988 through May 1, 1989) by $481.41 annually, or 9.6%. Additionally, prior to the current contract, the City's monthly cost was reduced by impounding fees collected. Under the current contract these fees are retained by the Greater Anoka County Humane Society. This change in effect increased the City's net cost by an additional 8%. In other words, the total cost increase for the current contract over the previous is approximately 17%. During 1989 the City incurred an additional cost of Seven Hundred Seventy-Dollars for boarding a dog that had been impounded as a dangerous animal. Staff is pursuing reimbursement of this cost. In the event the Humane Society collects license fees on behalf of the City, the City is credited accordingly. No revenue for license fees was received from the Humane Society during 1989.
