City of Ramsey
15153 NOWTHEN BOULEVARD N.W., RAMSEY, MINNESOTA 55303 · (612) 427-1410

TO:

FROM:

REGARDING:

DATE:

MEMORANDUM

David R. Hartley, City Administrator

James Gromberg, Project Manager~r'~
Recycling Containers for City-Wide Curbside Program

July 24, 1990

On July 24, 1990 the City had the bid opening for the containers for the Curbside Recycling
Program. Of the companies that entered bids, two were within six cents of each other per
container. The attached table illustrates the comparison of the two containers and how close
they met lhe specifications for the program. Both of the containers meet the test of fitting three
grocery bags inside the container. However, the Lewisystem container achieves this easier then
the Piper Casepro container.

The main difference between the containers is the delivery time from the placing of the order.
As the Table shows the Lewisystem container would take four weeks and the Piper Casepro would
take approximately six to eight weeks. The later delivery would seriously limit the ease in
which the containers could be delivered to the residents.

I would suggest that the City purchase the containers from the Lewisystem Company for the
Curbside Recycling Containers at $4.66 per container. I have attached a resolution for the City
Council requesting this action.

Attachments
