CASE #~.~

APPOINTMENTS TO THE CHARTER COMMISSION
By: David R. Hartley, City Administrator

Background:

The Charter Commission was established prior to the adoption of the City's Charter and remains
an active body as long as it meets at a minimum of once per year. The terms of members on the
Charter Commission can span no more than two 4-year terms. Consequently, there are five
positions on the Charter Commission that are currently vacant and on May 11, 1991 there will be
an additional four vacancies. It is in the best interest of the City of Ramsey to have an active
Charter Commission in the event that minor modifications to the City's Charter are desired.
Therefore, the City Council should consider possible nominations to be submitted to the Chief
District Court Justice who appoints Charter Commission members. The Charter Commission may
wish to suggest nominees for these positions as well.

Council Action:
Discussion.

I

I

I

I
I
I

Review Checklist:

City Administrator
City Attorney
City En~neer
Community Development Director
Public Works Supervisor

X

Chief of Police
Finance Officer
Planning & Zoning Commission
Park & Recreation Commission
Other

I

I
