1. Provide openings in concrete formwork to accommodate work of <br />other trades. <br />2. Verify size and location of openings, recesses, and chases with the <br />trade requiring such items. <br />3. Accurately place and securely support items to be built into the <br />concrete. <br />3.3 FORM COATINGS <br />A. Coat form contact surfaces with form coating compound before <br />reinforcement is placed. <br />1. Do not allow excess form coating material to accumulate in the <br />forms or to come in contact with surfaces which will bond to fresh <br />concrete. <br />2. Apply the form coating material in strict accordance with its <br />manufacturer's recommendations. <br />3.4 REMOVAL OF FORMS <br />A. General: <br />1. Do not disturb or remove forms until the concrete has hardened <br />sufficiently to permit form removal with complete safety. <br />2. Do not remove shoring until the member has acquired sufficient <br />strength to support its own weight, the load upon it, and the <br />added load of construction. <br />3. Do not strip floor slabs in less than two days. <br />4. Do not strip vertical concrete in less than seven days. <br />B. Finished surfaces: <br />1. Exercise care in removing forms from finished concrete surfaces <br />so that surfaces are not marred or gouged, and that corners are <br />true, sharp, and unbroken. <br />2. Release sleeve nuts or clamps, and pull the form ties neatly. <br />3. Do not permit steel spreaders, form ties, or other metal to project <br />from, or be visible on, any concrete surface except where so <br />shown on the Drawings. <br />4. Solidly pack form tie holes, rod holes, and similar holes in the <br />concrete. For packing, use the cement grout specified in Section <br />03300 of these Specifications, flushing the holes with water before <br />packing, screeding off flush, and grinding to match adjacent <br />surfaces. <br />03100-5 <br />
