PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.1 SURFACE CONDITIONS <br />A. Examine the areas and conditions under which work in this Section will be <br />performed. Correct conditions detrimental to do timely and proper completion <br />of the work. Do not proceed until unsatisfactory conditions are corrected. <br />proper support for the covering material, and as indicated on the Drawings. <br />3.2 INSTALLATION OF GYPSUM WALLBOARD <br />A. General: <br />1. Install the gypsum wallboard in accordance with the Drawings and with <br />the separate boards in moderate contact but not forced into place. <br />2. At internal and external corners, conceal the cut edges of the boards by <br />the overlapping covered edges of the abutting boards. <br />3. Stagger the boards so that corners of any four boards will not meet at a <br />common point except in vertical corners. <br />B. Ceilings: <br />1. Install the gypsum wallboard to ceilings with the long dimension of the <br />wallboard at right angles to the supporting members. <br />2. Wallboard may be installed with the long dimension parallel to <br />supporting members that are 16" on centers when attachment members <br />are provided at end joints. <br />C. Walls: <br />1. Install the gypsum wallboard to studs at right to the furring or framing <br />members. <br />2. Make the end joints, where required, over framing or furring members. <br />D. Attaching: <br />1. Drive the specified screws with clutch -controlled power screwdrivers, <br />spacing and 16" on centers at walls. <br />2. Where framing members are spaced 24" apart on walls, space screws 12" <br />on centers. <br />3. Attach double layers in accordance with the pertinent codes and the <br />manufacturer's recommendation as approved by the Architect. <br />4. Attach to wood as required by governmental agencies having jurisdiction. <br />09260-3 <br />
