CASE # t <br /> <br /> REQUEST FOR SITE PLAN APPROVAL; <br />CASE OF MATE PUNCH AND DIE, NILS SUNDQUIST <br /> By: Sylvia Frolik, Acting Community Development Director <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />Mr. Nils Sundquist is requesting site plan approval to construct a 46,000+ square foot addition to <br />the existing Mate Punch and Die facility located at 6400 Industry Blvd. N.W. The proposed <br />expansion will increase the facility size from 48,944 square feet to 95,280 square feet. <br /> <br />Observations: <br /> <br />On August 14, 1990, the City of Ramsey received an application from Mate Punch and Die for site <br />plan approval for an expansion to the existing facility on Industry Blvd. <br /> <br />The following items are enclosed for your information: <br /> <br />a) <br />b) <br />c) <br />d) <br /> <br />Site location map <br />Site plan <br />City Engineer's review dated August 30, 1990 <br />Proposed site plan development permit <br /> <br />Item #6 of the City Engineer's review letter references a need for a variance from the setback <br />requirements along Sunfish Lake Blvd. On August 23, 1990, the Board of Adjustment granted <br />necessary variances from thoroughfare setback requirements to Mate Punch and Die. <br /> <br />In 1978, Nils Sundquist entered into a development agreement with the City of Ramsey relating to <br />an expansion of Mate Punch and Die. In that agreement, Mr. Sundquist agreed that at the time <br />sewer and water are available to the site, an automatic sprinkler system for fire protection would be <br />installed in accordance with the Uniform Building Code. Mate Punch and Die connected to the <br />municipal water system in January of 1989 and will be required to install a sprinkler system with <br />this expansion project. <br /> <br />On September 4, 1990, the Planning and Zoning Commission recommended that City Council <br />approve the site plan request for Mate Punch and Die in accordance with the City Engineer's report <br />dated August 30, 1990 with the following exceptions and contingencies: a) the building elevation <br />of the proposed expansion being approved at the same elevation as the existing facility; b) the <br />expansion including the installation of a sprinkler system throughout the entire facility. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />City Staff recommends approval of the site plan based on the recommendations of the Planning and <br />Zoning Commission and the City Engineer's report dated August 30, 1990. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Motion to: <br />Approve/deny the site plan for Mate Punch and Die contingent upon compliance with items <br />contained in the City Engineer's review letter dated August 30, 1990 and the <br />recommendations of the Planning and Zoning Commission on September 4, 1990. <br /> <br />Review Checklist: <br /> <br />City Administrator <br />City Attorney <br />City Engineer iX <br />Community Development Director X <br /> <br />Chief of Police <br />Finance Officer <br />Planning & Zoning Commission <br />Other <br /> <br /> <br />
