CC Regular Session Meeting Date: 01/14/2014 Submitted For: Patrick Brama, Administrative Services By: Patrick Brama, Administrative Services Information Title Adopt 2014 City of Ramsey Legislative Platform Purpose/Background: Purpose of Case: Adopt the attached 2014 City of Ramsey Legislative Platform. Background: Annually, the City of Ramsey drafts and adopts a Legislative Platform. This document includes a list of Legislative priorities specifically related to the City of Ramsey. Upon adoption by the City Council, Ramsey's Legislative Platform will be forwarded to our County, State and Federal elected officials. Additionally, this document will be used internally by Staff as a supplemental workplan for 2014. Case Update: This case was originally reviewed by the City Council on Tuesday, January 7 in worksession. At said meeting, the Council requested various document formatting changes; and, a minor change to the "Mississippi River Critical Area Rule Making" priority. All requested changes are reflected in the attached document, and summarized below: • All priorities pulled/copied from other organizations were moved to a 'sub -section' titled "Endorsed Legislative Priorities." • Recommendation for the "Mississippi River Area Rule Making" priority was updated, to include stronger and clearer language. Outcome of Case: The desired outcome of this process is action in the Legislature to recognize and react to the City of Ramsey's 2014 Legislative Platform. Staff will schedule our local legislative delegation to a future work session to discuss our legislative agenda and the outlook for the upcoming session.
