On April 24, 1990, City Council approved the plan for this program that included
contracted services for the chipping at a total amount of $24,000.00

The contract was awarded to Outside Services, Inc. for an amount of $20,000.00 and the City's purchase
order #2484 was issued for this not-to-exceed amount. With billings through September 14, 1990, total
invoicing submitted against this purchase order is $19,956.76

All residents that signed up for the program have not been served, and Outside Services estimates an
additional seventy-six hours will be required to complete this year's program. Based on a one-person
crew, this completion estimate would increase the contract by approximately $2,850.00 or bring the
contract total to $22,850.00 This amount is still under the $24,000.00 budget amount for chipping
services approved by City Council and Metropolitan Council.

Work on this program has been halted pending Council approval of the additional services. At tonight's
meeting, additional information as to the status of this program will be presented.

Recommendation:

Staff recommends the chipping service contract be increased to an amount not-to-exceed $23,000.00 to
assure all residents that signed up for the program are served.

Council Action:

Motion to Adopt/Not Adopt Resolution 90-09- authorizing an increase in the contract for the brush
chipping services to an amount not-to-exceed $23,000.00

Review Checklist:

City Administrator
City Attorney
City Engineer
Community Development Director
Public Works Supervisor

jmt/9/20/90

X

Chief of Police
Finance Officer X
Planning & Zoning Commission
Park & Recreation Commission
Project Manager X
