CASE #1 PROPOSED 1991 GENERAL FUND BUDGET AND PAYABLE 1991 PROPERTY TAX LEVY By: David Hartley, City Administrator Background: On Tuesday, August 28, 1990 Council adopted a Proposed 1991 General Fund Budget and a Proposed 1990 Tax Levy, Collectible in 1991. Certified copies of these resolutions were delivered to the Anoka County Auditor's Office on August 31, 1990. Since that time Ramsey property owners have received a "Notice of Proposed Property Tax for 1991" as prepared and mailed by Anoka County. Over the last several months, the Budget Committee has reviewed budget requests for the City of Ramsey's 1991 General Fund Budget with each Department Head and several interested parties. Attached is a recap of the Budget Committee's recommended 1991 General Fund Operating Budget. This recap also includes 1990 comparative information. Also attached is a copy of the notice of tonight's public hearing that was published in the City's official newspaper, the Anoka County Union, on Friday, November 16, 1990. Supplemental information will be presented this evening in the form of visual aids. A presentation will be made by City Staff and questions will be answered. Recommendation: The Budget Committee recommends approval of the attached resolutions entitled RESOLUTION APPROVING THE FINAL 1990 TAX LEVY, COLLECTIBLE IN 1991 and RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE FINAL 1991 GENERAL FUND OPERATIONAL BUDGET. Council Action: Motion to adopt Resolution #90-11- setting the 1991 General Fund Budget. Motion to adopt Resolution #90-11- Levy. __ setting the Payable 1991 Property Tax Motion to direct the City Administrator/Clerk to transmit copies of the budget and levy resolutions to the Anoka County Auditor's Office and the Minnesota Department of Revenue in compliance with State law Review Checklist: Department Heads Budget Committee
