The City of Ham Lake has only workers' compensation to cover fire fighters when <br />injured on duty, The City of Andover has workers' compensation and contributes $250 <br />per fire fighter (35 currently, with a cap of 50) per year into the Relief Association <br />General Fund. When making contributions to the General Fund the Fire Fighters Relief <br />Association, the By-Laws specifies where and how the monies can be distributed. The <br />City of Elk River has workers' compensation and contributes to the Relief Association <br />General Fund, <br /> <br />Mr. Guimont recommends that the City of Ramsey provide him with a total monthly <br />income package of $3,550. He is requesting that he receive the workers' compensation <br />as currently being received and also receive $2,360 monthly to make up the difference <br />between workers' compensation and his regular annual salary. For the specified five <br />month recovery period the cost to the City would be $11,800. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />If Council approves the disability plan discussed in case #5, staff recommends that the <br />City of Ramsey provide Mr. Guimont with the benefit that he would have been eligible for <br />under the short-term disability plan effective November 4, 1990, provided Mr. <br />Guimont submits the requested income tax information and supporting schedules.
