MEMO <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />RE: <br /> <br />Ramsey city Council <br /> <br />Merland Otto <br /> <br />December 12, 1990 <br /> <br />Backstop Overhangs at Central Park Softball Fields <br /> <br />Some time ago, I was asked to determine the costs and feasibility <br />of providing overhangs for the four southern softball fields at <br />Central Park. It's my understanding that there have been a couple <br />of accidents or near accidents from pop up foul balls this past <br />season. <br /> <br />I have received an informal quote from a contractor who has <br />inspected the backstops. He has indicated that the cost would be <br />in the range of $500/backstop for a 4' overhand on the back and <br />wing sections of each. A 5' overhang may work and could be tried <br />at the same cost. Comparing this to the cost of pre-manufactured <br />overhangs (approximately $1,200/each), this appears to be very <br />reasonable. <br /> <br /> <br />
