Assessment hearings for 1988 Seal¢oating Improvement Projects. <br /> <br />Hearing on a proposed enabling resolution to create an <br />Economic Development Authority. <br /> <br />Mayor Reimann called the regular meeting back to order at 8:40 p.m. <br /> <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Sorteberg and seconded by Councilmember Pearson to <br />approve the following items contained in the consent agenda: <br /> <br />1. Approve license applications. <br /> <br />Adopt resolution #88-1~ approving first half bills for September <br />1988. <br /> <br />Approve change order Y;1 to construction work for Improvement Project <br />Y~88-15 (Anoka Sports Center site improvement), a decrease in the <br />amount of $i,900.00. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers Sorteberg, <br />Pearson, DeLuca and Bawden. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />COUNC%L BUSINESS <br /> <br />Establish Economic Development Authority. for the. City <br />9f Ramsev. Minnesota. <br /> <br />Councilmember DeLuca noted that the Economic Development Authority is a <br />powerful tool and entering into it would require a considerable amount of <br />time and committment on the part of City Council. He also noted that the <br />function and activities of the Economic Development Authority would <br />duplicate those of the Economic Development Company in Ramsey. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Reimann and seconded by Councilmember Sorteberg to table <br />any action to establish an Economic Development Authority for thirty (30) <br />days and to direct that a special meeting between the City Council, the <br />Ramsey Economic Development Commission and the Ramsey Economic Development <br />Company be established to research Economic Development Authorities in more <br />detail. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers Sorteberg, <br />Pearson, DeLuca and Bawden.
