CASE

1991 - 1992 ANIMAL CONTROL CONTRACT
By: Mike Auspos, Police Chief

Background:

I have received from the Greater Anoka County Humane Society a new contract for August 1,
1991 to August 1, 1992 (enclosed). Also included are cost projections for the contract year. I
believe that these costs are probably accurate and they are substantially below the amount budgeted
previously for 1990 - 1991. The reason for the higher projection was that the Humane Society had
just undergone some major restructuring and in the process had revamped their fee schedules. It
turned out that they were high in their estimates.

At this time there are no reasonable alternatives to the Humane Society's animal control offering
and the level of service being provided seems to be adequate considering the monies available.

Recommendation:

Enter into the proposed contract for the period August 1, 1991 through August 1, 1992 with the
Greater Anoka County Humane Society.

Council Action:

Motion to enter into an animal control contract with the Greater Anoka County Humane Society for
the period August I, 1991 through August 1, 1992.

Review Checklist:

Police Chief
City Administrator
City Attorney

CC:07/09/91
