Attached for your review is a staff
memorandum that went to the Budget Committee precedent to this discussion. You will note
within the memorandum that it is contemplated that the City of Ramsey would participate to the
extent of approximately $3,500 for the first year. The school district has requested that at some
point in the near future, Ramsey notify them as to whether we have an interest or a lack thereof in
participating in such a program.

Recommendation:

At the Budget Committee, during which Councilmembers Beyer, Hardin and Peterson were
present, this proposal received a "luke warm" reception. Therefore staff recommends not
participating at this time and not providing for a budget allocation within the 1992 budget.

Council Action:

Motion to authorize/not authorize the City Administrator to contact representatives of School
District #728 notifying them that Ramsey will not be allocating funds for participation in the
Community Education Proposal for 1992.

Review Checklist:

City Administrator
Finance Officer

CC: 08/I3/91

/,,75
