I CASE

HISTORICAL COMMITTEE UPDATE
By: Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik

Background:

As you may recall, earlier this year in discussions of possible uses for Community Development
Block Grant funds, City Council suggested the possibility of relocating and renovating the old
Ramsey Town Hall. At that time, we found out that the old town hall is the last remaining one
room schoolhouse in Anoka County. We also determined that there was not sufficient time to put
together such a complex project within the current years CDBG program time frames. However,
interest had peaked and at the urging of Councilmember Glen Hardin, I advertised for a volunteer
citizen committee to pursue working with the Anoka County Historical Society to research the
history and status of the structure and possible relocation and renovation.

The following is a list of persons that have volunteered to serve on the Historical Committee:

Linda Fries
18031 Uranium St. N.W.

Pat McElhaney
16345 Zirconium St. N.W.

I
I
I
I

Kathy Cervin
5740 Radium St. N.W.

Don Sorenson
15730 Radium St. N.W.

Debbie Keenan
15757 Okapi St. N.W.

Karl Christensen
7641 156th Ave. N.W.

Observations:

Glen & Ileen Hardin
17230 Zeolite St. N.W.

Bruce Courteau
6351 164th Lane N.W.

Dori Geng
15134 Garnet St. N.W.

Pat Schwappach
Anoka County Historical Society

Linda Fries will be present at the Council meeting to give the City Council a progress report on the
efforts of this committee.

I
I

Recommendation:

Will be based on your discussion.

I
I

Review Checklist:
CC: 9/24/91

City Administrator

!

55'
