I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
i
I
I
I
I
I
I
,I

CASE #$
JAY GUIMONT DISABILITY
By: Ryan R. Schroeder, City Administrator

Background:

Mr. Jay Guimont, a fire fighter on the Ramsey Fire Department, was injured in the line of duty on
August 2I, 1990. Attached for your review is the fire fighter disability claim case that went to the
most recent Fire Board meeting. Also attached are the minutes from that meeting as well as the
calendar of events regarding Mr. Guimont's injury and subsequent related discussions. Since that
time, we have been deliberating over whether Mr. Guimont is receiving a sufficient level of
benefits due to this injury. You will note, within the minutes of the Fire Board meeting, that the
Fire Board is recommending to the City Council that no additional benefits are due to Mr. Guimont
as a result of this injury. You will also note that within the calendar of events, this item has
received discussion at several public meetings during which the issue has been deliberated. You
will also note, given the fire fighter disability claim case, that staff has not received any verification
of income sufficient to increase Mr. Guimont's benefits beyond those already received. It is staffs
recommendation to accept the recommendation of the Fire Board that no additional benefits are due
to Mr. Guimont.

Council Action:

Motion to notify Mr. Jay Guimont that the City Council has found that no additional benefits are
payable pursuant to the October 21, 1990 date of injury and subsequent review and
recommendation by the Fire Board.

Review Checklist:

City Administrator
Finance Officer
Personnel Coordinator
Fire Chief
Jay Guimont, Fire Fighter
Kay Otto, Attorney for Mr. Guimont

CC: 12/17/91
