Below is a letter voicing our concern over the proposed gun range next to daycare. I also attached it as a word document. Ramsey City Council, We are the parents of a 6 month child who attends Little Me Childcare center in Ramsey. Learning that the city council would even entertain the idea of putting a shooting range next to a childcare center is a bit shocking and unsettling. Total Defense can say whatever it wants about safety. You as city council members and the Ramsey Police department can say whatever you want about the demand; however, it doesn't change the fact that it is a gun range next to a daycare. Is this how you serve and protect your young residents? It only takes one person who...it's just making it too easy for something to go wrong. Ramsey is a fairly widespread suburb and there must be multiple locations in Ramsey that would be better options. As residents of Ramsey, we strongly encourage you to find another location for this establishment. What if this was your child going to daycare next to a gun range? How do we explain to our child what those popping noises are when they're at daycare (double concrete walls, please)? What happens when they learn what guns can do to people? While it may be zoned differently than a school, how is it any different than a school? If you as a city council go forward with this you leave us with the following options as far as we are concerned: 1. Find another daycare for our child which I HATE to do because we couldn't be happier with Little Me thus far. 2. Strongly consider moving to a neighboring city if this is how you see as a city council this being a good idea. 3. Seek legal counsel to see what can be done as a citizen if this is approved (which is still mind -boggling to us).
