Workspace Webmail :: Print
Page 1 of 1
Print I Close Window
Subject: FW: Indoor Shooting Range
From:_ "Carol J. Breen" <cbreen@bgs.com>
Date: Thu, Feb 06, 2014 8:35 am
To: ":amberbrick@gmail.com— <amberbrick@gmail.com>, "'info@Iittlemechildcaremn.com"'
<mfo@littlemechildcaremn.com>
Amber, I am forwarding this e-mail at the request of Alex Medina, I work with his mother. I find it
irresponsible that the City would even consider putting the neighborhood as a whole at risk let alone next
to your day care center. The Council is elected to protect the community by making it a safe environment
for all, not by putting a select few at risk for danger from a business that would lessen the integrity and
privacy in the immediate area. I don't understand why they would place a potential hazard in a relatively
quiet neighborhood when there are plenty of other places in Ramsey that meet the criteria for this type of
business. As I indicated in my e-mail to the City, the citizens who live in the Forest Lake area surrounding
that indoor gun range can still hear the shots from outdoors and they are not happy. It is up to the Council
members to do the right thing for this neighborhood, not just for those select few who don't live in the
immediate area. Good Luck.
From: Carol J. Breen
Sent: Thursday, January 09, 2014 8:55 AM
To: 'tgladhill@cityoframsey.com'
Subject: Indoor Shooting Range
I live directly at the end of the strip mall where it has been proposed to change the City Code and permit
an indoor shooting range at the old Letourneau's location. I like so many others in the area work hard to
make a living with the expectation of coming home to relax with some degree of privacy. My first thought
is that some form of gunshot, whether direct or muzzled and/or muffled, will be heard at all hours of the
day and night thus disturbing my privacy and right to peace and quiet in the neighborhood. I have
relatives who live at the gun range in Forest Lake and they can still hear the gunshots. My next thought is
the security and lighting they have proposed. I enjoy sitting on my side deck at night and my thought is
that I have experienced the use of exterior lighting from the former gas station location and it increases
the visibility in my house so much so that it lights up the entire area like a Christmas tree and pours into
my indoor living space thus impeding my privacy.
I am not a gun enthusiast but even if I was I just don't think this would be the proper format to conduct
the business given the makeup of the community right now with the childcare center next door, the
church across the street, Elmcrest park and the golf course. 1 think this business will invite additional less
than savory characters to the neighborhood, and more noise pollution thus having an adverse affect on
the neighborhood as a whole.
Additionally, the City has already expressed its concerns over the security of the neighborhood and I just
think this area will become less secured no matter how it's set up.
Carol J.
