Councilmember LeTourneau stated the structure of the Strategic Plan is sound but it appears staff
may be suggesting to reprioritize or eliminate or add items.
City Administrator Ulrich stated there may be all three.
Councilmember LeTourneau stated if it is operational, staff could undertake that without Council
involvement.
City Administrator Ulrich stated staff could prepare and present the annual report as well as
items that will be worked on in 2014. He agreed the Strategic Plan foundation is solid and the
mission is established so if the Council is comfortable, it could be undertaken through a staff
effort and considered as a 2014 action plan.
City Administrator Ulrich stated the policy is that when the Work Session starts at 6 p.m. or
later, meals are not provided. He asked if the Council supported continuation of that policy.
Mayor Strommen stated she and others on the Council are commuters and just get to the meeting
by 6 p.m. when driving directly from day jobs so providing a meal is more of a convenience.
She stated she does not mind contributing towards the cost of the food, if needed.
Councilmember LeTourneau suggested the food choices be more hardy and healthy than pizza.
Councilmember Tossey stated the day he was sworn in the food served included filet mignon and
shrimp, about which he was appalled, so he is ardently against it.
City Administrator Ulrich stated staff will look at food options.
5. ADJOURNMENT
Mayor Strommen declared the Work Session of the City Council adjourned at 8:08 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Kurtis G. Ulrich
City Administrator
ATTEST:
Jo Ann M. Thieling
City Clerk
City Council Work Session / January 7, 2014
Page 12 of 13
