EDA BUSINESS
4.02: Ramsey EDA 2014 Work Plan
Economic Development Manager LaFrance presented the EDA 2014 Work Plan and stated the
Work Plan has been revised pursuant to the EDA's discussion at its last meeting.
Member LeTourneau questioned whether item 6 (assessment of community) under Second
Priority should be moved up on the list and requested further discussion of this item. He stated
the City recently hired CBRE to represent a large amount of the City' s open land and part of the
discussion included looking at the entire community versus one small section in the COR; as a
result, if there is going to be a global approach as to how the brokerage firm represents the City,
he felt there was some value in elevating item 6 to a higher priority and using any of the
information gathered by staff to support that effort. He added this item might also tie in with
item 4 (marketing of entire community) under First Priority.
Member Riley noted this also fits in with item 6 (sale of property) under First Priority.
Members LeTourneau and Williams suggested elevating item #6 (assessment of community)
under second priority to a first priority item, acknowledging it plays a vital role in carrying out
other first priority items such as item #6 and item #4.
City Administrator Ulrich advised that the City Council has been talking about eliminating the
HRA with the overall goal being to focus the City's economic development efforts into one
body. He stated the City Attorney is currently reviewing the process for merging the two
organizations with the intent of folding the merger into the budget process for 2015.
Motion by Member LeTourneau, seconded by Member Williams, to approve the Ramsey EDA
2014 Work Plan, as amended.
Motion carried.
