Councilmember Riley asked whether the contract would be discussed for possible approval by <br />the City Council at their upcoming Regular Session meeting. <br />Assistant to the City Administrator Brama stated the item would be included in the Consent <br />Agenda, unless the City Council would wish to discuss it during the Regular Session. <br />Mayor Strommen requested that this issue be added as a Regular Agenda Item to ensure general <br />public awareness and transparency. <br />Assistant to the City Administrator Brama agreed. <br />2.03: Legislative Update <br />Mayor Strommen welcomed Representatives Jim Abeler (District 35A) and Peggy Scott (District <br />35B). She invited them to provide the City Council with any updates they have on legislative <br />proceedings. <br />Mr. Abeler stated, with regard to the Armstrong Boulevard/Highway 10 intersection expansion, <br />he believes the City will have a bridge at the end of the session. He added there is a strong <br />position in the Senate currently with matters related to transportation, and that has been very <br />positive for this project. He noted the governor is friendly toward it, and opposition appears to <br />have dissolved, and MnDOT will be providing financial data in April in preparation for a vote. <br />Mr. Abeler stated he does not believe the City will need a hearing or demonstration of support. <br />He added it would be helpful for the City to become involved in the MnDOT negotiations. He <br />noted the City's lobbyist, could be a strong advocate for the City in this case. He added the City <br />is in an enviable position, and it is extremely positive that the City has two representatives. <br />Mayor Strommen thanked the legislators for their hard work on behalf of the City and for their <br />support of the transportation bill. She stressed the importance of safe access to Highway 10, for <br />the community and its residents, and also for emergency transportation. <br />Before Mr. Abeler left the meeting, the City Council thanked him for his attendance at tonight's <br />meeting. <br />Mayor Strommen provided an agenda for Ms. Scott. <br />City Administrator Ulrich stated, with regard to the City's legislative platform, there is a large <br />concern regarding ground water at the Armstrong Boulevard and Highway 10 interchange <br />location. <br />Ms. Scott stated she is aware of the situation and had attended a recent DNR hearing at Cedar <br />Creek Preserve.
