Over the last 30 years, I have developed substantial hands-on experience in the insurance and risk management areas. I believe this personal experience will be necessary to properly evaluate and supervise your programs. My insurance career began as a claims adjuster with an insurance company and progressed into the supervisory and management area within the company. During that time, I became familiar with the setting of reserves which affords me the ability to talk directly with cla/ms representatives and claims managers in the area of how claims are handled and how they are reserved. I have worked as an independent adjuster and still hold my multi-line independent adjuster's license in the State of Minnesota. I then became Vice President/Director of Safety and Risk Management for a midwestem macldng firm which gave me the ability to implement safety programs and procedures with the AFL-CIO. I was effective in substantially reducing the experience modifier for the trucking firm as a result of the safety program. As a Risk Manager for an international leasing and management company, I had the opportunity to handle every line of insurance as well as explore all the known self-insured programs, including the setting up of an offshore insurance company for the corporation. In addition, I attained the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters designation (CPCU), awarded by the American Institute for the Property and Liability Underwriters evidencing the fulfilment of a prescribed period of satisfactory insurance experience, the successful completion of a series of comprehensive examinations, and the acceptance of a strict code of ethical conduct. This is a five-year, 10 pan course which I completed in three years. It was with this background that I set out about 9 years ago to offer my services to corporations and municipalities on the basis that I could evaluate and handle their insurance programs.
