Roof Sign means any sign erected upon the roof of a structure to which it is affixed. <br /> <br />Roofline is defined as the top line of the coping; or, when the building has a pitched roof, as the <br />intersection of the outside wall with the roof. <br /> <br />Shopping Center is a commercial development consisting of three (3) or more separate <br />commercial establishments sharing a common building, entrance way or parking area. <br /> <br />Sign means any letter, word or symbol, device, poster, picture, statuary, reading matter, or <br />representation in the nature of an advertisement, announcement, message or visual communication, <br />whether painted, posted, printed, affixed or constructed, which is displayed outdoors for <br />informational or communicative purposes. <br /> <br />Sign Area means that area within the marginal lines of the surface which bears the advertisement, <br />or in the case of messages, figures or symbols attached directly to any part of a building, that area <br />which is included in the smallest rectangle which can be made to circumscribe the message, figure <br />or symbol displayed thereon. The stipulated maximum sign area for a free standing sign refers to a <br />~ingle facing. <br /> <br />Street Frontage refers to the proximity of a parcel of land to one (1) or more streets. An interior <br />lot has one (1) street frontage and a corner lot has two (2) such frontages. <br /> <br />Temporary Sign means a sign which is erected or displayed for a limited period of time and <br />not affixed to a UBC approved structure. <br /> <br />Wall Sign means any sign which is affixed to a wall of any building. <br /> <br />Window Sign means a sign installed inside a window, or any sign placed within a building for <br />the purpose of being visible from the public right-of-way. <br /> <br />9.12.03 GENERAL PROVISIONS <br /> <br />Subd. 1 <br /> <br />Address sign. Bench signs shall be permitted only at bus stops. <br /> <br />Subd. 3 <br /> <br />Ground Sign. Any ground sign within t':.'.en~' fi:',e (25) fifty (50) feet of any <br />intersection of street right-of-way lines and/or driveway entrances shall have a <br />minimum vertical clearance of ten (19) twelve (12) feet above the centerline of <br />the pavement. <br /> <br />Subd. <br /> <br />Canopies or Marquees. Canopies and marquees shall be considered to be an <br />integral part of the structure to which they are an accessory. Signs may be attached <br />to a canopy or marquee, but such structures shall not be considered as part of the <br />wall area and thus shall not warrant additional sign area. <br /> <br />Sign Ord.
