January 30, 2014
The following are brief updates regarding development projects located within the community. For more detailed information,
please contact the Community Development Department at 763-433-9824, planning@cityoframsey.com or visit
www.citvoframsev.com /planning -division.
Sweetbay Ridge Sold to Local Developer
The City was recently informed that the remaining undeveloped portion of Sweetbay Ridge, a single-family development
generally located west of Variolite at 161st Avenue, was sold on January 14, 2014 to Robert Storm of Greatland Homes.
Although final details are yet to be known, it is anticipated that a request to subdivide the remainder of Sweetbay Ridge, as
originally contemplated, may come forward in the near future. Staff will update the City Council and Planning Commission as
more information is available.
Great River Energy (GRE) 115 kV Transmission Line Project Commencing within City of Ramsey
Great River Energy is in the process of constructing a
transmission line from the city of Coon Rapids to the city
of Anoka, with impacts to the city of Ramsey at the Rum
River and along Bunker Lake Boulevard. GRE is
currently in the process of clearing vegetation along the
corridor and mobilizing equipment to begin setting
footings as well as staging transmission line poles. The
project was approved by the Public Utilities Commission
(PUC), a State of Minnesota review process. The route
and transmission line poles, consisting of a combination
of monopole (metal and wood) as well as lattice design
(at the Rum River crossing) were approved by the PUC.
This is Phase I of a two-phase project. Phase II, with
impacts within Ramsey, will be a separate review process
at a future date.
What Amenities Should the City Plan For in the Future Lake Feature in The COR?
Over the past several years, the City has been refining the development plan for the area known as The COR. The COR is a
mixed -use development that is home to the Northstar Commuter Rail — Ramsey Station.
The Development Plan for The COR includes a future lake feature anticipated to include both active and passive recreational
opportunities as well as small-scale private development. The City is looking for your help in discussing potential improvements
and amenities of this area of The COR. What recreation opportunities should be studied further? What adjacent uses would help
compliment this feature? Your input is important as we begin the first stages of this small area planning and design.
Thursday, March 13, 2014, at 6:00 p.m.
Ramsey Municipal Center, Alexander Ramsey Room
For more information, please visit:
www.cityoframsey.com/LakeRamsey
Contact: Mark Riverblood, Parks and Assistant Public Works Superintendent at mriverblood@ci.ramsev.mn.us or 763-433-
9853.
