Land Use Application, Home Occupation Permit
Russ Beech, 15531 Zirconium St NW, 763-551-4846
Additional Information:
Fabrication, assembly, and repair of firearms will include light machining with a metal -working
lathe and mill, and hand work with files, sandpaper, etc. Machining work will often require the
use of cutting fluids and lubricants — similar to motor oil, or household 3-n-1 oil — purchased and
stored in one -quart or smaller containers. Spray finishes, similar to common spray -cans
purchased at a hardware store, will sometimes be used. Test firing of firearms to check
functionality will be done using a commercial bullet trap, see attached brochure. The bullet trap
will be located against the concrete foundation wall in the basement of the home.
Sound from the machining activities should be contained within the home. Similarly, sound
from test firing (a very infrequent activity) should be nearly contained within the bullet trap and
basement of the home. The home is on a wooded five acre lot and neighboring homes are on
wooded, multiple -acre lots — considering the home spacing, woods, and minimal sound escaping
the home, sound impact on neighboring homes should be negligible.
Firearms will be stored in a locked gun cabinet, or as required by the BATF.
