Council Member introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION # 2014-03-053 RESOLUTION TO HIRE PAID -ON -CALL FIREFIGHTERS WHEREAS, over the course of 2013 - 2014 there have been several Paid -on -call Firefighters that have separated from the Fire Depaitinent due to retirements and other reasons; and WHEREAS, staffing levels in the Fire Department were less than adequate in all three fire stations; and WHEREAS, a firefighter orientation meeting was held on December 7, 2013, followed by interviews, background checks, reference checks, physical agility tests, work -style assessments, and pre -employment physicals and drug screens; and WHEREAS, seven candidates have successfully passed the requirements to become a city of Ramsey Firefighter; and WHEREAS, eligible candidates will be subject to a 1-year probationary period; and WHEREAS, funding for these positions are part of the approved General Fund Budget. Per the Joint Powers Agreement with the City of Nowthen, the City of Ramsey will be reimbursed for a portion of the salaries for these positions. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, Motion to approve resolution # 14-03-053, to hire Jason DeRosa, Mark Hager, Raymond Junge, Kelly LaForce, Bryant Louden, Vladimir Panko, and Dilan Van Avery as Paid -on -call Firefighters at $12.88 per hour effective March 12, 2014. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Council Member, , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: and the following voted against the same: and the following abstained: and the following were absent: Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council this the llth day of March 2014.
