Total Defense <br />14063 St Francis Blvd <br />Ramsey, MN 55303 <br />Re: Zoning Amendment and Conditional Use Permit Request <br />In response to the questions listed in the letter from December 17th, 2013; <br />A. Gunsmithing operations will include basic cleaning and repair of firearms, scope mounting, <br />bore -sighting, sight installation, etc. Cleaning supplies used and kept on -site will be normal, off <br />the shelf products available at many other retail stores such as Rem -Oil, Gunscrubber, CLP, etc. <br />There will be no toxic or hazardous chemicals utilized in the gunsmithing operations, or stored <br />on -site. Furthermore, no gunpowder to be kept on -site. <br />B. Total Defense will not purchase/sell or stock any black powder on the premises. Furthermore, <br />there will be no firing of ANY black powder guns on -site. <br />C. We will not purchase, stock or sell any type of reloading supplies on -site. <br />D. FPS/velocity limiting factors are determined by the type/construction of the range installed. We <br />are concerned with maintaining the integrity of our range and will be researching excluded <br />calibers such as .50 BMG, and many of the hyper -velocity calibers from .284 caliber and larger. <br />E. Regarding the exterior of the building, the first line of defense will be exterior lighting, steel <br />doors throughout except the main entry which will have ram -proof concrete barriers installed. <br />The only windows in the building will be barred and reinforced. All firearms will be maintained <br />in locked cases or trigger -locked when on the floor. Interior security measure will be further <br />enhanced via motion / thermal / impact sensors notifying a monitoring service if breached. A <br />CCTV system will also capture any activity occurring on the property at all times. <br />The shooting range will be constructed with an industry standard dual -door, air -lock entrance <br />that maintains sound and air quality in the retail environment, while containing the <br />aforementioned to the shooting range space. <br />
