December 6, 2003

To: Tom Gamec, Mayor
Todd Cook, Councilperson
David Elvig "
Patti Kurak "
A1 Pearson "
Sara Strommen "
Gerald Zimmerman "

DEC

1 0 2003

City of Ramsey
15153 Nowthen Blvd.
Ramsey, MN 55303

Re: Rezone exsisting B-3 zonning on PIN 34 32 25 14 0016 to R-1

We do not believe it would be in the best interest of either the city or us to rezone
our above property to R-1.

We understand the reason the city wants to rezone our property to R-1 is because
there are five residential lots on the west side. However, these are the only
residental lots on our west side. The rest consists of a church and commerical
business's of a rental storage building, bowling alley and welding supply business
and on the east side we have a hotel.

If the reason the city is considering rezoning our property to R-1 is to avoid having
a commerical property next to a residential area, it doesn't make sense to zone it to
R-1. Zonning our property to R-1 would cause a larger problem of having many
more residential lots next to commerical property than leaving it zonned B-2. This
is because the north side of this property consists of over eleven hundred feet
(1102.46 ft) on Riverdale Drive and zonning it R-1 would now create a large area
of residential lots right across the street from a big commercial area.

The area surrounding our property is of a much more commerical nature then a
residential one. Therefore we ask that we may keeP our existing B-2 zonning as it
is much more compatable with the surrounding area than a R-1 zonning would be.
Thank you.

Sincerely,

Lora & Edward Hamilton
Corinne & Winslow HOlasek

cc Patrick Trudgeon, City Planner
