Chairperson Backous pointed out that volunteering for this effort would be a great way to <br />contribute to the City. <br />Parks and Assistant Public Works Superintendent Riverblood agreed and reported that Metro <br />Dental Care saw a big spike in customer base due to their presence at the 2013 events. <br />Commissioner Kuzma asked for additional information on the quality of bands in 2014 that <br />resulted in doubling that portion of the budget. <br />Parks and Assistant Public Works Superintendent Riverblood stated previously they had to <br />match available funding with events so some events were free or lower quality events. In 2014, <br />they stepped away from that and increased funding by just over $4,000 to secure better <br />performers. <br />Motion by Commissioner LeTourneau, seconded by Commissioner Riley, to approve a $2,500 <br />expenditure for a performance at The Draw, as needed. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Backous, Commissioners LeTourneau, Riley, Johns, <br />Kuzma, Strommen, and Tossey. Voting No: None. <br />Chairperson Backous encouraged all to enjoy The Draw summer event series. <br />6. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S REPORT <br />Deputy Executive Director Gladhill reported the McDonald's closing is scheduled for February <br />26, 2014, with construction anticipated to start in the spring. He stated staff spoke to the <br />Flaherty & Collins leasing agent who indicated it is at 60% of lease up. Deputy Executive <br />Director Gladhill reported that the preferred broker for City -owned assets has already posted <br />many signs and staff continues to negotiate a Purchase Agreement with Casey's General Store <br />for a site off Ramsey Boulevard. He announced the Highway 10 Access Planning Open House <br />scheduled for February 26, 2014, at Greenhaven Golf Course in Anoka. <br />Chairperson Backous congratulated HRA Executive Director LaFrance on the birth of his first <br />child. <br />City Administrator Ulrich stated the City is aware of Northstar issues with on -time performance, <br />a critical concern, and staff will continue to follow that issue. <br />7.
