Mr. Beech explained he would be following the BATF requirements, along with the Federal <br />requirements on how to store the firearms on his property. <br />City Planner Anderson indicated the Home Occupation Permit does have a condition for <br />approval stating all firearms on subject property will be stored in a locked gun cabinet or as <br />directed by the BATF. <br />Commissioner Bauer asked if the site would be inspected to ensure that the firearms were being <br />stored properly. <br />Mr. Beech referred the Commission to Condition #17, which states the premises could be <br />inspected by the City. <br />City Planner Anderson stated this was a standard condition and would allow the City to retain <br />the right to inspect the property to ensure it remained in compliance. <br />Commissioner Bauer recommende. dition 5 and 12 allow for personal trips to and from the <br />subject property on a daily basis. <br />City Planner Anderson explained this clarification could be made. <br />Commissioner Brauer expressed concern with the noise that would be generated from the <br />proposed home occupation. <br />Mr. Beech did not believe <br />home. <br />City Planner Anderson <br />by the State of Minnesota. <br />hat the work conducted in his basement would be heard outside the <br />oise stans and explained these levels were established <br />Commissioner Field requested further information on Condition #13. <br />Mr. Beech clarified that his business could only be handed down to a surviving adult child. <br />Commissioner Nosan inquired how many guns could be stored on the site, and asked how the <br />guns would be stored. <br />Mr. Beech planned to use locked gun storage cabinets in his basement. He did not have a <br />number in mind and hoped to not have a large inventory of guns on site but rather would be <br />custom building rifles and selling them to customers. <br />Motion by Commissioner VanScoy, seconded by Commissioner Field, to close the public <br />hearing. <br />Planning Commission/March 6, 2014 <br />Page 4 of 9 <br />
