Board Member Lewis stated that this program could also be used as a marketing tool because the <br />City can advertise that they participate in the program. <br />City Planner Anderson confirmed the consensus of the Board in the placement of the guiding <br />principles for the draft including a summary statement at the end of the document. He noted that <br />he will make the suggested changes and bring the document back for final review of the Board at <br />the April meeting. He noted that if approved by the Board he would then ask for a motion to <br />send the document forward to a City Council worksession. <br />Chairperson Max confirmed that the Board wants to continue to move forward down the path to <br />joining the GreenStep Cities Program. <br />Council Liaison LeTourneau questioned if the document would need to wait for the April <br />meeting or whether the minor changes could be made by City Planner Anderson and moved <br />forward to the Council after that. <br />Motion by Board Member Valentine and seconded by Board Member Stodola to approve the <br />draft version of the guiding principles with the amendments discussed by the Board. <br />Further discussion: City Planner Anderson confirmed the amendments suggested by the Board <br />tonight and clarified that the Board would be comfortable approving the document with the <br />amendments as discussed. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Max, Board Member Valentine, Stodola, Bentz, <br />Lewis, and Prendergast. Voting No: None. Absent: Board Member Hiatt. <br />5.02: Subcommittee Updates <br />• Education and Awareness Subcommittee: City Planner Anderson stated that this <br />Subcommittee created framework for a community stewardship recognition program, <br />which was included in the Board packet. <br />Board Member Lewis explained that this is meant to be a working document and <br />briefly summarized the points of the framework. <br />Chairperson Max confirmed that there would not be a requirement of how many <br />awards would be issued in a year. <br />Board Member Lewis confirmed that the intention is to have the program open and <br />available to anyone during the course of the year. <br />Chairperson Max questioned if the Board has any budget that could be used for this <br />recognition program, suggesting possibly a tree that could be planted in honor of the <br />recipient. <br />City Planner Anderson stated that he could review the budget to determine if there <br />would be funds available. He stated that he likes the draft version of the framework <br />but felt that the approval process was too lengthy.
