Residential. Some of the reasons the City Council gave in favor in changing the designation
back to Low Density Residential was that there was not any pending plans to redevelop the
neighborhood and the fact that the Employment Zoning District designation will make the
residential units non - conforming uses and cause problems for residents with their mortgage
companies.
At their August 7, 2003 meeting, the Planning Commission held a public hearing regarding the
proposed amendment to Comprehensive Plan and recommended that the City Council approve
the proposed land use change from Places to Work to Low Density Residential. At the August
26, 2003 City Council meeting, the Council tabled action on the Comprehensive Plan
Amendment to a work session to discuss the possibility of designating the land to mixed -use. At
the October 7, 2003 work session, the City Council discussed the possibility of making the
parcels mixed -use but indicated the Low Density Residential was a better classification. The
Council instructed staff to bring forward the Comprehensive Plan Amendment changing the land
use designation from Places to Work to Low Density Residential.
Recommendation:
Staff and the Planning Commission recommends approval of the Comprehensive Plan
Amendment to change the seven lots on Rivlyn Ave. from Places to Work to Low Density
Residential.
City Council Action:
Motion to adopt Resolution #03 -10- approving the land use change for properties located on
Rivlyn Ave. from Places to Work to Low Density Residential
-or-
Motion to deny the request for a Comprehensive Plan Amendment for properties located on
Rivlyn Ave.
Reviewed by:
Community Development Director
Associate Planner
CC: 10/14/03
Copies to:
City Administrator
City Attorney
