City Improvement Project Updates • Armstrong Boulevard Trail Extension - o This project includes construction of a new 10 -foot wide bituminous trail west of Armstrong Boulevard between Alpine Drive and 161s Avenue. o Aggregate base has been placed and compacted. o Paving will occur next week, weather depending. o Construction must be completed by the end of June 2014. • Mississippi River Trail (MRT) - o This phase of the MRT includes construction of a 10 -foot wide off -road bituminous trail and development of on -road bike lanes between King's Island and Traprock Street in the cities of Anoka and Ramsey. o The City of Anoka is the lead agency for this project. o Construction must be completed in 2014. • Alpine Drive RR Crossing Quiet Zone Improvements - o This project includes extending the ends of the raised median islands to allow a railroad quiet (whistle -free) zone to be established. o Work is scheduled to occur in the first week of June, weather depending. o BNSF RR personnel will provide flaggers during the work. o Construction must be completed by June 20, 2014. • 2014 Street Maintenance Project (SMP) Phase 1 - o Crack - sealing has been completed on approximately 14 miles of City streets. o Sealcoating will occur after the weather warms up. o Letters will be mailed to owners of property abutting streets to be sealcoated as soon as the sealcoating work is scheduled. o Overlay work on Sunwood Drive has not been scheduled yet. o All work must be completed by August 1st The following adjustments have been made to the Ramsey station lighting schedule. • Platform lights are now scheduled to turn off at 11:59 PM ( during Twins season ) • There are seventeen high pole lights along the road by the bus shelters. Nine of the pole lights will shut off at 10:00 P.M. The remainder will stay on until dawn. Mosquito Control. The Mosquito Control District will be using Traprock Commons Park as a helicopter staging area for mosquito control operations during the coming season. Normal hours of operation will be from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday. PW Activities • The Streets and Park Departments continue to work on the re- sodding of the Dysprosium Street boulevard area. PW staff and volunteers from the Anoka Tornado Football team and Boosters Club will be laying sod on Saturday. They volunteer annually; as a way of saying thanks to communities that support their program. The Utility Department has been part of this project as well, by locating and repairing curb stops in the construction area. • We've been talking about frozen water services for the last several months and they have finally come to an end!
