City Improvement Project Updates <br />• Armstrong Boulevard Trail Extension - <br />o This project includes construction of a new 10 -foot wide bituminous trail west of <br />Armstrong Boulevard between Alpine Drive and 161s Avenue. <br />o Aggregate base has been placed and compacted. <br />o Paving will occur next week, weather depending. <br />o Construction must be completed by the end of June 2014. <br />• Mississippi River Trail (MRT) - <br />o This phase of the MRT includes construction of a 10 -foot wide off -road <br />bituminous trail and development of on -road bike lanes between King's Island <br />and Traprock Street in the cities of Anoka and Ramsey. <br />o The City of Anoka is the lead agency for this project. <br />o Construction must be completed in 2014. <br />• Alpine Drive RR Crossing Quiet Zone Improvements - <br />o This project includes extending the ends of the raised median islands to allow a <br />railroad quiet (whistle -free) zone to be established. <br />o Work is scheduled to occur in the first week of June, weather depending. <br />o BNSF RR personnel will provide flaggers during the work. <br />o Construction must be completed by June 20, 2014. <br />• 2014 Street Maintenance Project (SMP) Phase 1 - <br />o Crack - sealing has been completed on approximately 14 miles of City streets. <br />o Sealcoating will occur after the weather warms up. <br />o Letters will be mailed to owners of property abutting streets to be sealcoated as <br />soon as the sealcoating work is scheduled. <br />o Overlay work on Sunwood Drive has not been scheduled yet. <br />o All work must be completed by August 1st <br />The following adjustments have been made to the Ramsey station lighting schedule. <br />• Platform lights are now scheduled to turn off at 11:59 PM ( during Twins season ) <br />• There are seventeen high pole lights along the road by the bus shelters. Nine of the pole <br />lights will shut off at 10:00 P.M. The remainder will stay on until dawn. <br />Mosquito Control. The Mosquito Control District will be using Traprock Commons Park as a <br />helicopter staging area for mosquito control operations during the coming season. Normal hours <br />of operation will be from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday. <br />PW Activities <br />• The Streets and Park Departments continue to work on the re- sodding of the Dysprosium <br />Street boulevard area. PW staff and volunteers from the Anoka Tornado Football team and <br />Boosters Club will be laying sod on Saturday. They volunteer annually; as a way of saying <br />thanks to communities that support their program. The Utility Department has been part <br />of this project as well, by locating and repairing curb stops in the construction area. <br />• We've been talking about frozen water services for the last several months and they have <br />finally come to an end!
