However, there are some interesting variations from community to <br />community based on historical development patterns. Coon Rapids and Champlin have a number of <br />townhome developments that limit the dominance of detached single-family homes. Anoka and Elk <br />River have a number of units located in larger apartment buildings. Again, this is due somewhat to these <br />cities' history as freestanding communities that regularly built apartment buildings to meet the needs of a <br />growing employment base.
