providing for a high rate sustainable yield from the collection area. Water is then
pumped via a raw water transmission main to a surface water treatment facility.
An approximate location for the collection area and raw water transmission main
are shown on Figure ES -1.
3. Water Storage Facility Improvements
Based on the evaluation presented in Section 3.0, 2.9 million gallons (MG) of additional
water storage capacity will be needed over the next 10 years.
The water storage needs for the City of Ramsey can be most economically constructed
with a combination of ground storage reservoir and an elevated storage tower. Construction of a
1.5 MG elevated storage tower, located in the vicinity of Elmcrest Park, will provide fire
protection and improved static water pressure to the northeast quadrant of the City. Construction
of a 1.5 MG ground storage reservoir at the proposed water treatment plant site (adjacent to the
fire station along Armstrong Boulevard) will provide a clearwell for pumping facilities at the
treatment plant. This reservoir, in conjunction with high service pumping facilities at the
proposed water treatment plant, will provide improved fire protection and static water pressure to
City of Ramsey, Minnesota — M21.34343 Page ES -6
Water System Study Prepared by Bolton & Menk, Inc.
